Great! So only two things are needed (1) fill the data agreement form and (2) share your Movebank study(s) on Movebank, by (a) adding our account 'gwtdp' as a collaborator and (b) enabling download access for that account (go to 'Share>Permissions' in the study page, then tick 'Restrict data downloads to' and select Collaborators.
Yes, users retain ownership of the datasets (even if an open access license is selected by data owners themselves). Both Movebank and Global Wader offer varying levels of public visibility of the study, in order to allow identification by interested colleagues.
Global Wader does not store tracking data, but rather maintains an up-to-date register of all wader tracking projects currently undertaken. As such, we only work with metadata that summarises or gives context to the tracking study itself. We also promote best practices in the long-term storage of tracking data, encouraging data owners to deposit it in specialist repositories, such as Movebank.
Yes, the study can become findable and be included in data summaries, according to the permission you select in the data agreement form.

You can register your study with Global Wader wherever the data is stored. Please reach out by email if you are also interested in uploading your data to Movebank.
